4 Year Old Kindergarten Program

The year before school
Our 4 year old kindergarten is a full-time program — 7.5 hours a day, five days a week — led by bachelor-qualified teachers with additional qualified educators. It’s the second of the two kindergarten years we offer, and it’s squarely focused on getting children academically and emotionally ready for primary school.
The classroom is stimulating and purposefully challenging. Children work on phonics, early numeracy, physical skills, music and movement, and creative projects, with excursions and incursions widening their world. Toward the end of the year, routines start to mirror a school day, and we connect with local primary schools to smooth the move.
Just as importantly, we build the dispositions that matter: independence, persistence, strong social skills and a genuine love of learning.

Building school readiness
- ✓Phonics & literacy — Letter sounds, name writing, storytelling and a print-rich room.

- ✓Self-management — Packing a bag, managing belongings, following multi-step instructions.
- ✓Physical development — Fundamental movement skills, fine-motor work and multisport.
- ✓Creative & performing arts — Art, drama, music and performance opportunities.
- ✓Excursions — Trips to places like the zoo and museum to extend learning.
Free Kinder
Eligible families pay no kindergarten fees for this program under the Victorian Government’s Free Kinder initiative. Kindergarten is taught by a bachelor-qualified early childhood teacher and built into the day.

Questions from families
Eligible families pay no fee for the funded kindergarten program under Free Kinder — around $2,101 a year in savings. Additional long day care hours outside the kinder program are charged at our normal daily rate.
Children who turn four by 30 April in the year they attend are generally eligible. We can help you check and enrol.
