Our story

Sixteen years on Anderson Road

A small, family-run childcare centre and kindergarten that has grown up alongside the Albion and Sunshine community.

A real home, not an institution

Anderson Road Child Care Centre opened its doors more than 16 years ago in a character weatherboard home at 145 Anderson Rd, Albion. We chose a house on purpose. Cosy rooms, natural light, a garden and a yellow picket fence do something a purpose-built centre can’t — they help a nervous two-year-old feel like they’ve arrived somewhere safe.

We’ve stayed deliberately small and independent. One centre, one team, one director who knows every child by name. Families who started with us in the nursery now bring younger siblings, and some of our educators have been here for the better part of a decade.

What we believe

Our philosophy is grounded in the Early Years Learning Framework and the idea that children learn best when they feel secure, known and free to play. We plan around each child’s interests and abilities rather than pushing every child through the same worksheet.

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of this land, and we weave respect for Country, culture and diversity through everyday learning.

Our values

Four ideas that shape our days

Belonging

Every child, family and culture is welcomed. We learn each family’s story and build care around it.

Learning through play

Children are capable and curious. We follow their interests and let real learning happen through play.

Connection to nature

Gardening, outdoor play and sustainability help children feel part of the living world around them.

Early support

When a child needs extra help, we act early and work alongside families and specialists.

Familiar faces, year after year

Our team

Educators who stay

Our program is led by bachelor-qualified early childhood teachers working alongside diploma and certificate-qualified educators. Ongoing professional development keeps our practice current, and low turnover means your child keeps the same trusted faces as they move through our rooms.

Our environment

Meals, gardens and the outdoors

Nutritious morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are cooked fresh on site each day and included in your fee. Children help grow herbs and vegetables, spend real time outside, and learn simple sustainability habits that stick.
